Shaun
has made and fitted the beautiful solid oak door. It is a traditional
stable door with miniature shutters on the window.
It
looks like the next commission is for an office but with a balcony area
off the back so will be a lot larger than this Shepherd Hut. We
also have plans requested for a Reiki treatment room.

DECEMBER 2010

Electrics are started James the electrician is wiring sockets lighting and underfloor heating this will be a cozy hut

Collect
the precut steel and Adam starts work on welding the new chassis. We
are reusing as many of the original parts as possible but some do need
replacing.

DECEMBER 18TH 2010

Chassis
is coming on fast. Adam has done a fantastic job of welding a new
chassis utilising the original wheels turntable and axles. It will
certainly be VERY strong The difficult part came when it had to be
turned over. It was assembled and welded upside down and had to be
turned luckily Shaun and Adam had eaten their porridge and managed to
flip it but it was very heavy.

James the Electrician has first fixed the 240 volt and 12 volt. We are now ready to fit the underfloor heating and the ceiling.

The
stove has arrived and looks fantastic. It is a multifuel stove and
incorporates an oven so not only...

DIARY OF SHEPHERDS HUT

EARLY NOVEMBERThe original wheels and turntable arrive Shauns father Mick spent hours removing them from the chassis in the freezing cold.

The side panels are cut and assembled in the workshop with the window openings cut in position.

Everything now has to move up to the barns where we can work
under cover and out of the cold. Using the tractor we transport
everything across the fields into the barn and promptly have to light
the braziers as it is sooo cold

The tin arrives ready cut and curved for the roof. Have to handle the sheets with care as our hands stick to them in the cold.

The floor joists are cut and assembled. Side panels are lifted onto the base.

Insulation is fitted
within all the panels and roof. This is one of the most important
parts we use really high quality Super Quilt blanket insulation to
make sure the huts can be used all year round making sure they are warm
in the winter amp cool in...
